05/08/26 - Let’s finally start a blog! A useful one, containing lots of resources
The following blog will serve as a go-to resource for current and prospective clients alike. Resources will include instructions on both formal and informal mindfulness, acceptance, defusion and perspective-taking exercises, alongside a rationale for practical implementation. These skills encompass a broad range of techniques derived from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), practised in-session with a licensed practitioner and outside the consulting room as homework, and act as the fertile soil for adaptive, flexible behavioural change and value-consistent action.
While these skills are useful standalone measures to help with anxiety, depression, dissociation, and emotional dysregulation, they are not alone a replacement for counselling and psychotherapy with a licensed professional. However, this blog will enable prospective clients to briefly familiarise themselves with some of the psychological tools of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and be a readily accessible toolbox for current clients needing to speedily remind themselves of the assortment of skills practised and incorporated into action plans as a core ingredient of their treatment.
These skills guidelines will be added in the coming weeks and months, time-permitting.
As always, if you are interested in booking a consultation to consider whether my counselling service is a fit for you, or you’re a current client, get in touch via phone or email, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Take care, and warmest regards,
Dominic
